212 lawmakers yet to submit affidavits on dual nationality

ISLAMABAD: The deadline for submitting affidavits to the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding dual nationality by lawmakers has ended, Geo News reported on Friday.

As many as 212 members of both the houses of the parliament and provincial assemblies have not submitted the affidavits to confirm they didn’t possess dual nationality.

Sources told Geo News 29, Senators, 75MNNs, 24 Punjab Assembly MPAs, 76 Sindh Assembly MPAs, 7 KPK Assembly MPAs and a member of the Balochistan Assembly have yet to submit their affidavits to the ECP.

The sources said that prominent among those who didn’t submit the affidavits included, Prim Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman,, Khurshid Shah, Manzoor Wattoo, Makhdum Shahabuddin, PPP Secretary General Jahangir Badar, Aitzaz Ahsan and Raza Rabbani.

The ECP had sent letters to the lawmakers, giving them one-month deadline to submit their affidavits on dual nationality.
