ECP postpones by-polls in Punjab

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed until December 4 by-elections in five constituencies of Punjab due to “administrative reasons”. According to ECP, the Punjab government has requested the commission to postpone by-elections in the province due to the coming month of Muharram. The polling will now be held on December 4 in PP-122 Sialkot, PP-92 Gujranwala, PP-26 Jhelum and two National Assembly constituencies – NA-162 Sahiwal and NA-107 Gujrat. The schedule for filing nomination papers and scrutiny would remain the same. Earlier, the ECP had announced by-elections in these constituencies on November 17. staff report
