Body formed on YouTube issue: Malik
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday said that a four-member committee has been constituted to filter anti-Islam and anti-country material from YouTube, and the website would be unbanned after the committee’s approval.
Talking to media persons after chairing a high level meeting attended by home secretaries and IGPs of the four provinces, the minister said that the sale of cellular SIMs at ordinary shops would be banned from December 1.
He said a SIM would be dispatched to the buyer at his or her residence after attested documents.
He said that 98 percent of the SIMs were prepaid, while the total number of SIMs was 110 million.
He said that owners had been directed to register SIM again by producing attested documents by November 30.
He also said that satellite phone would not be allowed to use without PTA’s approval.
Malik said that effective measures were being taken to ensure peace and security in the month of Muharam.
He said that issues regarding law and order were discussed in the meeting, adding that helicopters would be provided to the provinces, besides installation of CCTV cameras.
The minister said that provincial administrations would be informed in advance about sensitive areas.
He said he would soon hold a meeting with scholars from all schools of thought to ensure peace and harmony in the month. app
