Negative elements out to hamper democracy: Raja
* PM says there is no collision among any national institutions
KARACHI: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said democracy is flourishing and negative elements hampering its growth should be ignored.
The Pm said this during an address at the inaugural ceremony of FAW Al-Haj Automobile Assembling Plant on Saturday. Raja said there is no collision among any national institute and the government had completed its five-year democratic tenure. He reminded the audience that the impression of quarrels between each other needed to be dispelled.
PM Raja assured the audience of the government’s commitment to adopt all possible measures for the development of automobile industry in the country. He expressed satisfaction that with the commissioning of this plant, 1,500 persons had been given jobs. He said no country could develop without active participation of the private sector, adding Pakistan had full potential to fulfil the demands of the private sector. He said it was the policy of the PPP-led government to promote private sector so it could play a leading role in the development and prosperity of the country. Raja said, “We could reduce the trade deficit by increasing our local industries.”
Raja said Pakistan is blessed with all kind of resources, including huge deposits of minerals, gas, petrol, rivers, sea, the best climate, strong agriculture base, besides a large manpower.
The Chinese consul general in Karachi said the automobile assembly plant would prove good not only for Pakistan but also strengthen the friendship between China and Pakistan. He underlined the need for promoting cooperation in different sectors for mutual benefit of the people of both countries.
Al-Haj FAW Group Chairman Haji Shahjee Gul Afridi claimed FAW Group of China was the third largest auto manufacturing company of the world. He said the company would soon launch cars at affordable price. He said the work on second phase (expansion) of the company was in progress.
Meanwhile, addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two-day 1st Convention of South Asia Photo Journalists Association (SAPA) and a photo exhibition held at Sadeqain
Gallery, Farrer Hall, the PM vowed to make Pakistan a great country with the help of stronger institutions and powerful armed forces. He said continuity of the democratic process was most important for development of the country.
Delivering the welcome address, PAPJ President Mujeebur Rehman highlighted the performance and activities of the PAPJ. He said the PAPJ intended to establish an academy in the city to impart training in photojournalism. agencies
