PPP Balochistan declares provincial government unconstitutional
QUETTA: PPP Balochistan has declared the provincial government unconstitutional.
The decision by PPP Balochistan made during the provincial council session comes in the wake of a deepening constitutional crisis in the province. The council also confirmed that Chief Minister Balochistan Aslam Raisani had been suspended from the party.
On Tuesday, Acting Speaker Syed Mutiullah Agha had called the provincial assembly meeting. An official handout said that Acting Speaker Syed Mutiullah Agha on the requisition of the assembly members has summoned the provincial assembly meeting Tuesday afternoon. .
Earlier, Acting Governor Muhammad Aslam Bhootani had put off the assembly session called on November 13 by Governor Nawab Zulfiquar Ali Magsi. Prior this development, Bhootani had refused to chair the session as Speaker and had sent a memo seeking clarification from the Supreme Court’s Registrar about the constitutional status of the existing provincial government and the chief minister in the backdrop of SC October 12, 2012 interim order in the Balochistan law and order case.
Assembly sessions are called on the requisitions of the assembly members under Article 105 of the constitution, but not on the request of the ministers, the constitution experts giving their opinion of the crisis said.
