No institution on its own can ensure good governance: CJ
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Thursday said that no institution on its own can ensure good governance in the country adding that the judiciary is a role model for other institutions.
Addressing a full court meeting here on Thursday, the chief justice said that the people’s confidence on the judiciary has increased.
He said that it is a usual full court meeting which is convened to review the rate of disposal of cases.
The Chief Justice said that the Supreme Court reserved the right of judicial review in any matter. He said that the judiciary ensured that no institution intrudes in the working parameters of other institution.
Fourteen judges of the apex court attended the meeting. Justice Athar Saeed didn’t attend the meeting due to his illness while Justice Jawad S Khwaja is out of the country.
The Chief Justice said that no appointment of the judge took place after the retirement of Justice Shakir ullah Jan, adding that remaining judges are present in the meeting.
