ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges has summoned the interior secretary and the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) investigation officer over the issuance of notices to former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and his son Abdul Qadir Gilani in the Hajj scandal of 2010. The committee held its meeting in pursuance of a ruling of chairperson of the National Assembly on Wednesday when lawmakers called for summoning authorities concerned to the committee over the notices following a complain by MNA Abdul Qadir Gilani, who claimed that the FIA had issued threatening notices to them. The committee meeting was presided over by Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor. FIA Director General Anwar Virk appeared before the committee, which expressed its displeasure over the absence of the FIA investigation officer and summoned him and the interior secretary.
