Balochistan government has not taken steps to ensure law and order: SC
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has stated that the Balochistan government has not taken any concrete steps to ensure law and order in the province.
A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing the Balochistan law and order case on Tuesday. The apex court ordered that Dr. Saeed and Advocate Munir should be immediately freed.
During proceedings, Chief Justice remarked that everyone was aware of who had kidnapped Dr. Saeed. The Chief Secretary, IG Police and IG FC were present in the province yet Dr. Saeed could not be freed.
The CID inspector informed the court that the security situation was improving in the province and one month ago 49 people were killed and now the figure had decreased to 34.
The chief justice asked if this is what was being termed as the situation improving, stating that the murder of one individual was equal to the murder of all of humanity.
The Chief Justice asked for the report pertaining to the return of 100 missing persons. The Chief Justice remarked that the court would support the Balochistan government and believed in the parliamentary system.
The lawyer for the Balochistan government Shahid Hamid said the provincial assembly session was summoned by members and they passed a vote of confidence in Chief Minister Aslam Raisani.
The Chief Justice remarked that 72 hearings of the case were held and nothing was said regarding the performance of the Balochistan Assembly.
The hearing of the case was adjourned will December 5.
