President decides judges’ seniority: Aitzaz

ISLAMABAD: Renowned lawyer and Pakistan People’s Party leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has said that president of Pakistan has been deciding seniority of judges and the incumbent president returned the summary regarding IHC judges to the two relevant institution, Geo News reported on Wednesday.

Speaking to media, Ahsan said according to the attorney general’s opinion Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan was the senior most judge in the Islamabad High Court after the chief justice.

Replying a query regarding delay in issuance of notification about judges’ appointment, he said that the courts also took 20 years to decide cases.

He said that several of his own cases were pending in the courts over the last 10 years. The Senator said justice delayed was tantamount to justice denied.
