Aslam Beg files review petition against SC's Asghar Khan verdict
ISLAMABAD: Former Army Chief General (retired) Aslam Beg has filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Asghar Khan case calling for it to be declared as void.
The review petition filed by Barrister Syed Ali Zafar on behalf of the former army chief, states that Beg was not involved in the process of distribution of cash amongst politicians and that the orders of the president were directly implemented upon by former ISI chief Asad Durrani.
The petition further states that Asghar Khan was not given a chance to fair trial, adding that if he was accused of anything while serving as army chief, then the correct way to take action against him would be through the Pakistan Army Act.
In the petition, Beg prayed that people have agreed on illegal orders in the past and giving an order to take action against him is not correct.
Meanwhile a petition has also been submitted to request to change Aslam Beg’s council from Advocate Akram Sheikh to Barrister Ali Zafar.
