54pc of Pakistanis think a woman can be head of state: survey
ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 54 pc of Pakistanis think a woman can be head of state.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Some people are of the opinion that a woman cannot be head of state, while some people say if the woman is qualified and popular then she can be head of state. What is your opinion on this?”
Responding to this, 54 pc said a woman can be head of state and 38pc said a woman cannot be head of state. However, 8pc did not give a response.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2673 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 28, 2012 – November 02, 2012.
Error margin is estimated to be approximately 2-3 per cent at 95pc confidence level. (PPI)
