Shia Ulema demands army role for security on Ashura

ISLAMABAD: Shia Ulema Council Pakistan has stated that the government has failed to provide protection to the mourners in Muharram-ul-Haram, therefore, the security responsibility of Ashura should be given to the army, Geo News reported.

Addressing a press conference here Thursday, Secretary General SUCP Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi said the government brings very weak cases in the court and blames that courts release the terrorists.

Arif Wahidi urged the chief justice to take notice of terrorist activities.

He further said terrorism could not be eliminated from the country until the terrorists were hanged to death.

Wahidi announced country-wide protest after Jumma prayer on Friday.
