Army on standby, says Sindh CM
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Friday reviewed security arrangements made for the 8th Muharram procession and visit its route, Geo News reported.
Speaking to media, he reposed confidence in police and Rangers and said there was no need to deploy army so far. However, he said that the army was on standby for the security of Ashura procession.
He expressed the hope that the police and the Rangers would cope with the situation, adding that the government was trying to meet the requirements of modern security equipment.
Shah appealed to the people to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies. Replying a query, the chief minister said that the provincial government didn’t want military operation in Karachi.
