SHC summons Chief Secretary and Chief Fire Officer over State Life death

Karachi: A petition has been filed in the Sindh high Court (SHC) regarding the man who fell to his death from the eight floor during the State Life Building fire.

The fire broke out in a multi-storyed building of State Life in downtown Karachi on Wednesday after which a man jumped from the building in panic. He was later picked from the ground and rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The petition states that the man hung from the State Life building for at least ten to fifteen minutes and yet no attempt was made to save him, further adding that if a jumping sheet was present the man could have been saved.

The petition highlights that rescue institutions do not have jumping sheets or any other latest resources to aid rescue efforts.

The Sindh High Court has issued notices in this regard to Chief Secretary & Chief Fire Officer along with other defendants to learn more about the situation.
