NCA to launch anti-terrorism campaign via paintings

LAHORE: Principal National College of Arts (NCA) Dr Murtaza Jaffri has urged students to start campaign against intolerance, terrorism and torture through their artistic skills.
NCA faculty and students are to start holding exhibition soon as part of the campaign.
He was addressing a ceremony at NCA Auditorium in which a joint resolution was presented against brutal murder of son of former member board of governor and graduate, Akram Dost, on Friday. Akram Dost’s son Saatak was killed last month when some unidentified assailants stopped his car while he was travelling with his family from Noshki to Quetta and opened fire at them. Akram Dost’s younger brother is Assistant Professor at Fine Arts Department NCA currently and is also a NCA graduate.
Jaffri was of the view that teachers, students and staff of NCA should play their role in spreading peace and humanity in the society and they should be united against intolerance and torture. He was of the view that NCA had always remain in forefront to spread awareness regarding humanity peace and tolerance specially the programmes being offered at NCA, the academic environment and majority of exhibitions being display at NCA spread the same message.
While talking to Daily Times, Assistant Professor Fine Arts Department NCA Isman Hussain said NCA teachers were planning to organise an exhibition in which they would display artwork including paintings, sculptures, photographs to raise awareness among masses about peace and tolerance. She was of the view that through this exhibition we would like to aware masses that Pakistan was not like as we were watching it nowadays.
Isman further told that although bomb blasts near NCA at Anarkali were an open threat but teachers and students were not afraid of these things they would continue raising their voice against intolerance and extremism through their paintings and artwork.
