Barrister Saif ditches Musharraf's APML, joins Altaf Hussain's MQM

KARACHI: Barrister Muhammad Ali Khan Saif has given up on All Pakistan Muslim League to join Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Geo News reported Sunday.

"I believe MQM is the only party that is truly democratic and Altaf Hussain the only leader who can be the saviour of Pakistan", said Saif addressing a press conference at the MQM headquarter Nine Zero here.

Saif, who was flanked by party leader Farooq Sattar, said that he was fortunate to follow Altaf Hussain's lead and would try his best to serve the nation from MQM's platform.

Saif has been in the limelight for the last few weeks owing to his resignation from the office of APML Secretary General after developing differences with former president Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf led APML top brass.

Earlier sources quoted, the former federal minister Barrister Saif as saying that he had left APML after some core differences over party restructuring and the party leadership's preferring non-political people against political workers of APML.

Saif said that APML was being run by Musharraf's former military aides authorized with taking key decisions like appointment of office bearers.

He alleged the non-political office bearers in Punjab and Sindh chapters had brought shame to the party by their apolitical adventures.

It may be mentioned here that Saif remained close aide to Musharraf and played a vital role in organizing APML in Pakistan during the last many years.
