Karachi killings aimed at creating sectarian strife: Police chief

KARACHI: City Police Chief, Shahid Hayat said on Tuesday that the recent killings were aimed at creating sectarian strife.

Speaking to reporters about the ongoing wave of killings in the city, Hayat said yesterday (Monday) members of the Shia community were killed in the city and today (Tuesday) members of the Sunni community were killed.

“There is a clear trend of creating Shia, Sunni conflict in the city,” Hayat said.

The police chief also agreed with findings of an investigative report by Geo News regarding the 'Kaala budget.'

The Geo News investigative report stated that residents of the city were deprived of Rs830 million because of the illegal economy. The investigative report consisted of precise data, surveys, opinions of former police officials and bureaucrats.
