PM Nawaz announces to transform Awaran to 'model district'

AWARAN: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has announced to transform earthquake-hit Awaran to a 'model district', referring to the one like Islamabad and Lahore.

Speaking to media after visiting quake-hit Awaran, the prime minister said that both the federal government and provincial government would join hands to rehabilitate quake affectees.

He said advanced technology would be used for reconstruction and development of the area.

Nawaz Sharif lauded the efforts of Pakistan Army in relief activities. He said that the army would stand by the government in rehabilitation process.

“The people of Pakistan must know that their government did not acceptfor any foreign aid and all the funds for the uplifting of quake-victims would be spent by the federal and provincial governments,” he said.

Nawaz said that there is no alternate of loss of human lives, however, he announced compensation of Rs 0.5 million for the family of each deceased and Rs 0.15 for the persons injured.

The prime minister further said that roads would be built in Awaran and round-the-clock provision of electricity would also be ensured to the residents of the district by installing solar energy plants.

He also appealed to estranged Baloch leaders and militants to become part of the nation building process and enter into the national mainstream.

“The dissident Balochs are our brothers. We have no intention to indulge in revenge and vengeance with them,” he said.
