Open-air Senate session ends with government assurance

ISLAMABAD: Senators of the joint opposition have ended their three-day session held outside parliament after they were assured that the government would address their concerns.

Federal Information Minister Parvez Rasheed and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar arrived at the token session of the Senate on Friday. On the occasion, Ishaq Dar said that he came to the opposition session with the information minister following notice taken by the prime minister.

The finance minister said that the government wanted to address the concerns of the opposition in senate. The figures that were presented to the senate would be reviewed, he assured.

The opposition members after getting assurance from the government ended their token session and Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said the opposition would attend the next Senate session in Parliament House.

Meanwhile, Senator Maula Bux Chandio thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for taking notice to resolve the standoff.
