Jilani to assume Pakistan’s Ambassador to US post in December

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jiliani has been appointed as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States.

According to a Foreign Office statement, Jilani will take charge as Pakistan Ambassador to the US in December.

Jilani joined Pakistan’s Foreign Service in 1979 and was appointed as the Foreign Secretary in 2012. His prior appointments include Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union. He has also interacted with NATO HQ in Brussels on a regular basis.

Mr Jilani holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and M.Sc. in Defence and Strategic studies.
