Notification to hold LB elections in Punjab on party basis issued
LAHORE: The Punjab Law Ministry has issued a notification for amending the Local Government Act 2013, paving the way for Local Bodies’ (LB) elections in the province to be held on party basis.
A copy of the notification which states that LB polls in the province will be held on party basis has been sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Earlier on Saturday, the provincial cabinet had approved the proposal for holding LB elections on party basis.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) had ordered that LB elections in Punjab be held on party basis. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that LB polls in Punjab will be held on December 07.
