Martyrs of 'war on terror' are true obligers of nation: Shahbaz Sharif
LAHORE: Paying hearty homage to the martyrs, Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, Saturday said that all those who had laid down their lives fighting terrorism were the true obligers of nation, Geo News reported.
“I was heartbroken after I learnt about how a religio-political party’s leader has picked at the martyrdom of those no less than 50,000 people who fell prey to terrorism”, said he in a statement issued here.
The CM of the most populous province of Pakistan, who is himself receiving death threats from the terrorists these days, said all the civilians and security-men who were martyred in the War on Terror did not die for nothing.
“Denigrating their status of martyrdom was like rubbing salt into the wounds of the bereaved survivors”, Shahbaz said.
It must be noted that Jamaat-e-Islami chief Munnawar Hasan a few days back had stated that all those who were killed fighting America’s War on Terror were not martyrs. JI chief also drew outrage for calling the former Tehreek-e-Taliban leader, Hakimullah Mehsud a martyr after he was killed in a US drone attack.
