SC rejects ECP plea for holding LB polls in March 2014
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday rejected the request of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for allowing time up to March 2014 for holding Local Bodies elections, Geo News reported.
The ECP on Monday had submitted this petition praying for four months time for the holding of LB elections, as some legal and administrative issues including the problem relating to printing of ballot papers were involved in the process which requires four months time. Therefore, it suggested that the elections should be held in March 2014.
However, the apex court raising some objections on the petition returned it saying that this matter was already disposed of on November 5 and thus the petition was not maintainable.
