‘Media is trapping the nation in worthless discussions’
Staff Report
KARACHI: The only formula for restoration of peace in the country is to pull out from the War on Terror, and the media is misguiding the nation through worthless debates. These views were expressed by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman while addressing a workers convention, organised by JI Gulberg Zone at Masjid-e-Quba. “JI is an Islamic movement, which spread its message through electoral campaign and wants supremacy of Islamic laws in all sphere of life,” he said. The Karachi chief said the media was trapping the nation in worthless discussions, which the JI strongly condemns. “The media is misguiding the nation on the statement of Munawar Hussain,” he said. Commenting on the issue, he said those who have sold the nation in return of dollars should apologise and not the JI chief. “The country has borne the loss of $100 billion in the War on Terror, and more than 50,000 people have lost their lives. 3.8 million of them have become homeless,” he said. He added, “the JI has a clear past and it has since and honest leadership.” Rehman also distributed honorary shields among party workers who took part in collection of animal hides during Eidul Azha.
