Plea against Dr Farooq Sattar's poll victory dismissed

KARACHI: Karachi election tribunal on Saturday dismissed an election petition challenging election of Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Dr Farooq Sattar at NA-249 constituency.

Abdul Aziz Memon of Pakistan People's Party, runner-up candidate, challenged the election result of Dr Sattar in the tribunal headed by a former judge of Sindh High Court, Zafar Ahmed Sherwani.

Memon alleged in the petition that massive rigging was committed at certain polling stations in the constituency during the general elections 2013.

The petitioner requested the court to declare NA-249 election result null and void, and order Nadra toverify thumb impressions on the votes cast at polling stations of NA-249 constituency.

Dr Sattar had bagged 109,952 votes and Memon could receive 64,974. PPI
