President stresses collective efforts for development
DADU: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday underlined the need for individual as well as collective efforts for the development, progress and prosperity of the country.
Addressing a gathering after the inauguration of Jeejal Maa Charity Hospital, the president said that time had come to take bold decisions and to work collectively to address various issues and ills facing the country.
He underlined the need for efforts to root out corruption from the country “which has unfortunately taken deep roots”.
The president called upon people to contribute towards rectifying the situation and strengthen the economy. He said Pakistan was a gift for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
“It is now our responsibility to work with devotion, sincerity and honesty to protect our homeland and make it a stronger and prosperous country,” he said.
President Mamnoon said that honest and dedicated persons must be encouraged so that the country could progress and prosper. He also emphasised upon the need for equipping the youth – the future of Pakistan – with the “ornament of education so that they could lead the country towards progress and prosperity using the best of their abilities”.
Separately, President Mamnoon met people from all walks of life, including lawyers, businessmen, and agriculturalists, from Dadu and Jamshoro.
Regarding various issues raised by people, the president assured them that the same would be forwarded to the quarters concerned for their early redressal.
He said he had resigned from his party’s office and even from its basic membership as he firmly believed that the president was a symbol of federation. He said that he would make every possible effort to address the issues of people.
The president reiterated that through individual as well as collective efforts the destiny of people and the future of country could be changed.
Also on Monday, the president visited the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
The president, accompanied by former federal minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi, placed a floral wreath at the shrine and offered fateha. app
