PTI wants NA session to discuss security

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday demanded immediate convening of the National Assembly (NA) session to discuss the “extremely acute security situation” created after violence in Rawalpindi on Aushra.

PTI Vice Chairman Mahmood Qureshi, Central Information Secretary Shireen Mazari and Women’s Wing President Munazza Hassan made the demand at a press conference. They said that an NA session was mandatory to discuss the “fragile situation as Ashura violence could spread in other parts of the country”. “If the government is not prepared to call an immediate session of the NA, PTI is already in touch with opposition leaders to requisition the same,” Shah told the media. The PTI central leader also said that a judicial commission should be instituted to look into the Rawalpindi incident. Earlier, PTI Chairman Imran Khan had also expressed grave concern over the “incitement to sectarian violence that is spreading across the country”. He appealed to the people of Pakistan to ensure that the nefarious designs of “hatemongers” and enemies of Islam and Pakistan are thwarted by a show of unity across the land.

“Those who are spreading this message of hatred amongst Muslims are clearly enemies of Islam and Pakistan and are deliberately destroying the stability and peace of the country. PTI condemns all such agendas,” Khan had said.
