Culprits behind Pindi tragedy deserve exemplary punishment: CM Shahbaz

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Wednesday said culprits behind the Rawalpindi incident occurred on Friday in which 11 persons were killed and more than 50 injured deserve exemplary punishment.

Chairing a meeting held at the Punjab House Islamabad today, he expressed the firm resolve to bring perpetrators of the heinous crime to task saying they deserve severe punishment.

Inspector General of Punjab Police Khan Baig briefed on the incident which was attended by Punjab Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Environment Minister Col. (retd.) Shuja Khanzada and officials of provincial law enforcement agencies.

Stressing the need for greater unity among all segments of the society, Shahbaz Sharif said the country’s future depends on internal unity and promoting the culture of harmony and co existence.

He urged all segments of the society to forge unity among their ranks to counter nefarious designs of the anti social elements. The Chief Minister appreciated Ulema and Mashaikh for playing their role in defusing tension which emerged after the Ashura incident. APP
