LHC directs Punjab to restart ‘Sasti Roti’ schemeRAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court's (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Tuesday directed the Punjab government to restart the 'Sasti Roti' scheme across the province to facilitate the needy. Admitting the plea filed by petitioner Rashid Ali over the suspension of the scheme, Justice Suhail Iqbal Bhatti directed the provincial government to resume it and submit a compliance report on November 28. Earlier, the court had twice sought para-wise comments from the government over the petition, but it did not reply.
The provincial government had started the project to provide the staple food at an affordable price to the less resourced people during its previous term, but it was suspended a few months ago. app
