Akram Sheikh likely prosecutor in Musharraf’s treason case

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is likely to nominate Advocate Akram Sheikh as prosecutor in former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf’s treason case.

Akram Sheikh has confirmed his meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his availability for the case.

“I have communicated my consent to the prime minister to accept the role of lead counsel in trial of General (r) Pervez Musharraf for high treason,” Sheikh told APP.

The prime minister has already given approval to the names of three judges of the special court which would hold trial of Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution.

The judges are Justice Faisal Arab from the Sindh High Court, Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar from the Balochistan High Court and Justice Yawar Ali from the Lahore High Court. app
