Kh Asif gets charge of Defence Ministry

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday allocated additional charge of the Ministry of Defence to Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif and that of Law, Justice and Human Rights to Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the prime minister has assigned these additional portfolios to the two ministers with immediate effect.

The Defence Ministry was previously held by the prime minister himself.

After being elected prime minister in May 11 general elections, Nawaz Sharif had decided to keep the charge of affairs of key defence and foreign ministries with himself. Similarly, the ministry of law and justice had been vacant since the new government took power.
