LONDON: MQM chief Altaf Hussain ahs appealed that Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Pakistan army must create new provinces.
Talking to a reception-dinner in honour of National Hockey Team at Lal Qila ground, Azizabad, the MQM noted army’s fight against the terrorists and urged it come forward and create new administrative units to enhance governance. He said such a thing could not be done by feudal lords and “corrupt ruling elite”. Talking about the seminary girls of Bajaur Agency who were being detained in a small room in Liquatabad, Altaf said the mothers and elders of these girls were not sent back to their homes, rather they were his and his party’s responsibility. He assured that his party would do whatever is possible for the girls and their families.
He sternly criticised the Sindh government, especially Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for his alleged negligence on the issue. He said that the chief minister did not take notice of the girls’ plight nor his ministers visited them. “The government’s indifference should be condemned because it was its responsibility to provide relief to the people,” Altad said. He reiterated his support for the war against terrorism and offered his party’s volunteers to fight along with army against the terrorists. He said that the army had enough capability to fight against ISIS, Taliban and al Qaeda militants. Altaf had on Wednesday said that the citizens should be vigilant, “as terrorists have strengthened their network in Karachi”. He asked traders to make security teams and shopping mall owners to install security alarms on self-help basis in the face of “imminent terrorist threat”.
