Govt to end loadshedding till 2017: Asif

SIALKOT – Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday announced to end loadshedding till 2017 and said the government had chalked out a comprehensive plan in this regard.

“We are trying our level best to end loadshedding. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif himself was monitoring the programme to end loadshedding till 2017,” he expressed these views while addressing the laptop computer a distribution ceremony at Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS).

He said before 2018 general election, his government would be capable to end loadshedding from Pakistan. “You are future of Pakistan and you have to work hard for the prosperity of the country,” he said and congratulated the students for getting laptop computers from the government.

“We should adopt tolerance because education teaches us tolerance,” he said and stressed the need to change social behaviors: As politicians, he said that we put allegations on each others and it was a sin to level allegations on anybody.

“I am strong believer of empowerment of women. If a woman economically empowers, society would grow automatically,” he said. He said that those governments which invested in education, actually they invested in future of nations.

The minister said that he had worked out a plan to expand the GCWUS like modern universities of the world, adding that the District Jail would be shifted to some other place and its six acre land would be given to the GCWUS, he added.

He said that the government had established Khawaja Safdar Medication College and a proposal to set up co-education university was also in pipeline. GCWUS Dr VC Farhat Saleemi in her welcome address, thanked the guests and the Punjab government for distributing 767 laptop computers among the students.

DCO Nadeem Sarwar, MPA Chaudhary Akraam, Ghulaam Sarwar Sipra, the Gujranwala director colleges and others were also present.
