LG polls worse than 1977 election, says Pervaiz Elahi
INP
GUJRAT: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader and former Punjab chief minister has accused the government of carrying out massive rigging in local government election. “The election was worse than general election of 1977 in terms of rigging. It was government’s election as district coordination officers (DCO) were deputed returning officers (ROs),” Pervaiz Elahi said. He claimed rigging took place everywhere in Punjab and media too showed evidence in this regard. “We already knew the government was going to rig the election, but decided to contest only to let the people know about rigging carried out by Nawaz league,” he added. When asked whether he would accept the election results, Elahi said the PML-Q would decide its future course of action after elections results. He said other political parties should also raise the issue of rigging as the N-league has sabotaged the entire system.
