Newly-elected MP joins PML-N, rejects PTI
Riazul Haq calls on Punjab CM in Lahore

LAHORE – Riazul Haq Juj – a recently-elected independent candidate from Okara – has formally joined the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) after weeks of speculations and poaching by the opposition parties.

Riazul Haq met Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on his invitation and announced to officially join the ruling party. The chief minister had invited the newly-elected lawmaker on breakfast whereas Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) organiser Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar had also met and invited him again to join his party.

The sources said that the Tehreek-e-Insaf had offered Riazul Haq the post of the deputy organiser of Punjab and membership of the core committee but he rejected them. It merits mentioning here that the newly-elected member contested the election for the National Assembly seat from Okara as independent candidate after he was denied a ticket by PML-N and yet managed to grab the victory.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called Riazul Haq after the election to congratulate him and extended the invitation to join the PML-N party. Riazul Haq had thanked the prime minister and said the love for the PML-N runs in his blood and that he would always prefer it.
