Australian police provides NAB with state-of-art equipment

ISLAMABAD: A ceremony for handing over latest equipment to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) by Australian Federal Police (AFP) was held at the bureau’s Headquarter.
A delegation of the AFP led by its Senior Officer Philip Hunter met with NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry.
Qamar said that NAB is an apex anti-corruption organisation and has established its own forensic science lab with an aim to equip the bureau with the latest technology to cater for its emerging needs to eliminate menace of corruption from the country.
He said that under our proactive approach, the NAB has been engaging different governmental and non-governmental organisations and civil society in its fight against corruption. He said with the help of properly functioning forensic Science Lab, investigation Officers (IOs) probing different high profile corruption cases are now able to conduct complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations transparently and on merit.
He said that the bureau’s forensic science lab has the facilities of digital forensics, fingerprint forensics and questioned documents. Establishment of forensic science lab will help in retrieving of documents from electronic devices like cell phones, computers and networks.
Philip Hunter appreciated the efforts and performance of the NAB and said that NAB’s forensic science lab – in a short span of time – has developed into an advanced and state of the art forensic lab.
