Many countries want to join CPEC: Ahsan
ISLAMABAD: Planning, Development and Reforms Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said that political stability and continuity of policies are imperative for development and prosperity of Pakistan.
Addressing a function here on Tuesday, he said that political instability and absence of continuation of policies have greatly harmed the country in the past. He said that we should not make the mega project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) controversial as it is a major gamer changer for Pakistan and the region. He said many countries including Iran, Saudi Arabia wanted to join CPEC.
He said European delegations visiting Pakistan also asked how they can join this project. Meanwhile, Ahsan said that Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf's (PTI) politics of agitation is a hurdle in the way of economic stability of the country. In an interview, he said that Pakistan was heading towards progress through CPEC like projects while PTI, for the sake of politics, is pushing the country into crisis.
He said the government has never stopped any political party, including PTI, to stage protest for three and a half year, but now PTI has a plan to shut down Islamabad, which cannot be allowed. The minister said it is responsibility of the government to keep the capital city open and functional, and that the rule of law will be maintained.
