CM Sindh takes serious notice of target killing in East, Central districts

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah taking serious view of the last two days incidents in District Central and East of the city has issued explanations to the concerned DIGs for their failure to stop target killing. “This shows that there is some lethargy that’s why the target killers are roaming around and run away after killing people.”

This he said while presiding over a meeting on law & order here at the CM House today. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Siiddique Memon, IG Police AD Khowja, Additional IG CTD Snaullah Abbasi, Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Maher, Principal Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Home Secretary Shakeel Mangnijo, Commissioner Karachi Aijza Khan.

Briefing the chief minister, Additional IG Karachi Mushatq Maher said that the initial inquiry shows that the incidents of target king happened yesterday have been done by the same group. They also used the same pistol and only changed their motorcycle. “I am further investigating the incidents and would return with detailed report shortly,” he said.

He added that the incidents have taken place in the jurisdiction of Central and East. On this the chief minister expressed his displeasure on the performance of the concerned DIGs and directed the IG to issue them explanation. “Why the police were not on patrolling in the sensitive areas. This is very serious that the same criminals just after changing their bikes killing people one after another area without any fear of the police and other agencies. This is surprising and totally unacceptable for me,” he said and directed the IG police to issue explanation to the oncerned DIGs.

The chief minister also said that he did not care against whom the police going to launch operation. “This is your duty to take criminals to task, just I want results,” he said and directed the police department to intensify operation against drug dealers, street criminals and against those who were trying to create sectarian violence in the city.

IG police AD Khowja said that there were some solid clues against the criminals involved in target killing in District Central and East. “These incidents are most important and criminals would be arrested within next two days. On this the chief minister directed him to start operation from this night. “I can’t give you more time, just do it and give me results,” he said.

He appreciated the police for successful operation against drug dealers, this must be intensified further. “When I had launched anti-polio drive in Ibrahim Hyderi hospital people had pointed out activities of drug dealers in their areas (Ibrahim Hyderi, Rerhi and Lath Basti), I want you to launch operation there also,” he directed the IG police.

Additional IG CTD Dr Sanaullah Abbasi said that he had gathered solid information against the criminals involved in creating sectarian violence in the city. “We are going to take strict action for which joint action, Rangers and police, is being launched,” he assured.

The chief minister said that there were some reports that businessmen were again receiving calls and letters for extortion. “I want strict action against the extortionist and conduct an inquiry into the matter and report me,” he directed the IG police.
