Railway, PTDC to promote tourism

ISLAMABAD: Railways and Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) will work together for joint promotion of tourism in Pakistan.
Tourism facilities will be developed near all railway stations where Pakistan Railways operates. This was mutually agreed in a meeting between Federal Minister for Railways Khawja Saad Rafique and PTDC Managing Director Abdul Ghafoor in Islamabad. Ghafoor said that there was a large room for cooperation between these two bodies as tourism and mass transit go side by side.
Railway is known to be safe, affordable and reliable transportation system in Pakistan. Now it is the time that these organisations should cooperate and work together for betterment of Pakistan’s tourism facilities. He said that present government is committed to provide relief to general public and develop a bright Pakistan.
Saad Rafique and Ghafoor agreed that a special tourism train namely “Sada Salamat Pakistan” will be run on 25th December 2016 from Rawalpindi to Karachi on the pattern of Azadi Train. Renowned Scholars of Muslim, Hindu and Sikh faith will be the special passengers of the train in addition to dignitaries and general public.
Through this initiative, we intend to convey the message of peace and integrity to all the secular state is the world in general and our neighbouring country in particular that the minorities are as respectable, safe and secure in Pakistan and they are free to perform their religious rituals without any hindrance.
Saad said that in past, tourism was a neglected subject but I hope that cooperation between Pakistan Railways and PTDC, we shall be able to introduce a hassle free communication solution to the tourists as well as general public. He appreciated the commitment and devotion of PTDC managing director for development and promotion of tourism in the country.
