PM praises PAF’s role in fighting terrorism

SARGODHA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday praised the role played by Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in counter-terrorism and said that the nation was proud of their professional capabilities.
He said this during his visit to PAF Base, Mushaf to witness various operations being conducted at the base during the culmination phase of PAF exercise 'High Mark - 2016'. Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also accompanied the prime minister.
"PAF has always played a vital role in the country's defence," he said. The prime minister mentioned the contribution of PAF in military operation Zarb-e-Azb by achieving the desired targets in elimination of terrorists.
"The falcons of Pakistan Air Force are our pride," the prime minister said.
He congratulated the troops on the successful culmination of the exercise, conducted every four years to enhance the operational preparedness of the PAF.
The prime minister said the PAF had played a significant role in the country's defence by working in association with the armed forces and the navy.
The PM was given a comprehensive briefing at the Command and Control Centre on the successful culmination of the exercise that had started in September.
Earlier, on his arrival at the base, the prime minister had been received by Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, chief of the air staff Pakistan Air Force. A contingent of Pakistan Air Force presented the guard of honour to the prime minister. It was followed by a fly past of eight F-16s and SAAB AEW&C aircraft. Afterwards he met with the air and ground crew participating in the exercise and congratulated them on the successful conduct of the exercise. The prime minister also had a group photo with the air crew.
