Indian aggression an attempt to divert attention from IoK: Lodhi

NEW YORK: Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi, said on Friday that India's continued aggression across the Line of Control was an attempt to divert the world's attention from its atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary-General of the UN and the President of the Security Council, Lodhi wrote that the Indians had used heavy advanced weapons across the Line of Control during the last couple of days. She wrote that the Indian security forces had used such weapons after 13 years.

Lodhi also wrote in the letter how continued ceasefire violation across the border by Indian security forces was threatening regional peace and stability. She stated that it was a deliberate attempt by India to sabotage peace in the region.

She demanded from the President of the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations to take notice of India's consistent ceasefire violations across the border.

Pakistan and India have exchanged fire across the Line of Control over the past few months, ever since relations between the two countries deteriorated due to India's violation of human rights in Kashmir and the Uri attack.
