American ambassador Hale meets Gen. Raheel Sharif
RAWALPINDI: David Hale, United States Ambassador to Pakistan, met outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the GHQ on Friday morning.
According to details, the American ambassador met General Raheel and praised the efforts of Pakistan Army against terrorism. He hailed the achievements of Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism.
General Raheel Sharif kicked off his farewell meetings earlier during the week as he addressed troops and held meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. So far, the name of the next army chief has not bee disclosed by the government.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad before leaving for Okara the army chief had an informal chat with journalists.
“I have faith that Pakistanis will fight the war against terror. I have faith this land of the pure will get rid of terrorists,” he said.
Speaking about his retirement he said, “I took this decision in favour of the country. I am always available to serve the country.”
“Inshallah Pakistan will see good days,” he added.
