New Islamabad Airport to be inaugurated on August 14

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad Monday said that the new Islamabad International Airport would be inaugurated on August 14 next year.

Replying to various questions during question hour at National Assembly, he said that the present airport was a national asset and would be utilized by civil aviation.

Replying to another question, he said that during the tenure of present government a total of five foreigners had been hired for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), out of them two were deployed in Pakistan while three abroad for bringing improvement.

He said that PIA has obtained A 330-300 aircraft in order to compete with other airlines.

He said that due to induction of more aircraft in fleet, the punctuality of flights had increased to above 90 per cent during 2016.
