LAHORE: Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed joined a protest demonstration held by students, teachers and parents of the Pak Turk Schools on Tuesday – after attending the assembly session.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader ensured the demonstrators of full support and vowed for raising the issue in the assembly until it gets resolved.

Apart from that, he also submitted a condemnation resolution in the assembly – claiming that the federal government’s act of forced expulsion of Turkish staff is condemnable because ‘they were serving the country by offering quality education which adds to the nation’s future’. The resolution also called for taking back the decision as soon as possible.

On the other hand, the protesters – carrying placards and banners – demanded the government to take back the decision of forced expulsion of the Turkish staff. They also chanted slogans against the Turkish government and said that the Turkish president’s disputed Al-Maarif would not be allowed to run the schools.

A student’s father – Hameed – told Daily Times that he was facing depression due to the prevailing issue and that the government should think of the damage it would bring to the country’s future.

“I have no concern of the teachers’ affiliation to any NGO but the thing is that these teachers were nurturing our children as per international standards and every one was satisfied with their performance,” he said.
