CJ takes suo moto of police torture on lawyers


ISLAMABD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry has taken suo motto notice of the police torture perpetrated upon lawyers at Aiwan-e-Adl in Lahore yesterday, Geo News reported Saturday morning.

According to Supreme Court (SC)’s circular issued on Saturday morning, CJ Chaudhry has scheduled hearing of suo motto case involving police torture on lawyers on Monday.

The honourable apex court has convened IG Punjab police, provincial interior secretary along with details on the case.

Meanwhile, Advocate General Punjab and Attorney General of Pakistan too have been summoned in court on Monday.
