Pakistan lodges protest with NATO over border violations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday formally lodged protest with a senior official at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels against repeated violations of its air space by the (NATO-led) ISAF helicopters. “Pakistan’s Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani met the deputy secretary general of NATO in Brussels to lodge protest over the border violations by the ISAF helicopters,” said a statement. Handing over a demarche, the ambassador condemned such incidents since it negated the spirit of cooperation between Pakistan and the NATO. Jilani asked NATO to conduct an immediate and full enquiry of these serious incidents. The NATO official offered regrets and termed the incidents as most unfortunate. He assured that NATO would carry out a detailed assessment of the incident. app
