Parties united to help flood victims, says Gilani

KOT ADDU: Political parties might have different ideologies but they are united in mitigating the sufferings of flood-hit people, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Saturday.

The prime minister expressed these views while addressing a ceremony for the distribution of Watan Cards among flood-hit people at Kot Addu tehsil of Muzaffargarh district. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also present.

The PM said that winter was around the corner and appealed to philanthropists and NGOs to donate tents to flood-hit people to save them from the extreme cold weather.

“We are making joint efforts to serve the flood-hit people,” the PM said. He specifically lauded Shahbaz’s services for the affected people and also thanked workers of all parties, office bearers, MNAs, MPAs, ministers and advisers for their contribution.

“It is the beauty of our reconciliation policy that slogans are being raised in support of the PML-N and the PPP at one place,” he added.

Gilani said the reconciliation policy improved the government’s efforts in providing relief to affected communities. app
