Pakistan delegation to visit US State Department

LAHORE: A Pakistani delegation consisting of nine professionals, who have achieved distinction in their respective fields and are on a visit to the US since October 1, will visit the US State Department, which has arranged special briefings for them with its Public Diplomacy wing. The delegation is visiting the US at the invitation of the Rotary Club (RC) of Wilmington, Delaware. Almas Ali Jovindah, the chairman of the US project will address the opening session of the “Pakistan Project” in Delaware, where more than 850 students would be in audience, followed by a series of talks on enhancing Pakistan’s positive side and its image among American youth. Zafar Jilani, president of the Rotary Club of Mozang, Lahore has been leading the delegation. RC Wilmington President Lise Monty and Kathleen Meyer, the chairperson of the Pakistan Project, along with the board of the directors of the club have made tremendous efforts to make the project a reality, and the Wilmington Rotarians volunteered to sponsor the education of the girls of the Ghazali Education Trust School, adopted by the Rotary Club of Mozang, and to further their education to grade ten. They would also raise fund to carry out surgeries in the flood-affected areas. Jovinda told Daily Times that they intent to reciprocate the warm hospitality shown by RC Wilmington members, by hosting a 10-member delegation from the US in Lahore in February. staff report
