PML-Q dissidents decide to complete district level organisation in Punjab
Staff Report
LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid Punjab (PML-Q) dissident group on Sunday decided to complete its organisation and membership at the district level within the month.
A special meeting, chaired by PML-Q dissidents’ Secretary General Hamayun Akhtar, was held at the party office, while the party’s provincial President Atta Manika, Secretary Qalandar Shah, Information Secretary Mian Asif and other office bearers were also present at the occasion.
The meeting decided that the party’s provincial president, secretary and the information secretary would visit all of districts in the province to complete the organisations as well as the memberships of the party workers, and to appoint office-bearers in their respective areas.
The dissidents also considered a strategy plan keeping in view the political situation in the country, and the formation of a new alliance among all the Muslim leagues.
The party discussed the upcoming special meeting of the heads of various Pakistan Muslim leagues in Lahore, which is to be chaired by Peer Pagaro.
Addressing the meeting, Akhtar said his party had no need to support former president Pervez Musharraf’s newly formed All Pakistan Muslim League “as they were real politician and had been serving the people with their own political party”.
He stressed on all Muslim Leagues to become united and start their political struggle from a united platform, as it was the only way to stop the anti-state elements from coming into power.
The former parliamentarian hoped that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif would also join the alliance of the Muslim league parties in the near future, saying it would be a wise decision in present circumstances. Manika said he believed that Nawaz would announce merger of his PML-N with the Muslim Leagues alliance when Pagaro visits Lahore.
