China Red Cross to have increased collaboration with Red Crescent Society of Pakistan
BEIJING, OCT 13 (APP): Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Masood Khan Wednesday thanked the leadership of Red Cross Society of China for donating US$ 50,000 for flood relief in Pakistan. He also appreciated the role played by it in employing the international humanitarian spirit through their broad network for collecting donations for the flood affected Pakistanis. Ambassador Khan expressed these views at a meeting with Wang Wei, Executive Vice President of Red Cross Society of China (RCSC).
The amount has already been handed over to Pakistani authorities by the Chinese Ambassador in Islamabad.
Wang observed that RCSC would like to increase their collaboration with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
He said RCSC is providing training to the Pakistani staff of PRCS to enable them to better cope with natural disasters in future.
He said RCSC would also launch an appeal for collecting more funds for the flood affectees of Pakistan which will be distributed through PRSC.
Ambassador Masood Khan applauded the role of national societies like RCSC as auxiliaries to the public authorities. He said the embassy would assist RCSC and PRCS to promote closer cooperation with each other.
He asked RCSC to look into the possibility of providing more training opportunities to the PRCS as well as for taking up specific projects in the infrastructure development in the earthquake hit areas of Pakistan.
The Vice President, RCSC, Hao Linna also attended the meeting.
